New Year’s Eve table decorations are a great way to make a splash without feeling like you have to decorate and entire room.
New Year’s Eve has always felt like the anticlimactic holiday after Christmas. I try to make it fun and special, but it always seems to be nothing but board games, more food and being really tired. I know some people love it but I have yet to find my New Year’s cheer… until this year!
If there has ever been a New Year that is more eagerly anticipated, I’ve never seen it! We are all so ready to say goodbye to 2020 and hope for good things to come in 2021.
We will be celebrating with just the 5 of us and I thought that I would throw a little more into the decorating department for this momentous occasion.
How to decorate your table for New Year’s Eve
Part of my frustration with New Year’s and New Year’s parties is that I love to keep my Christmas stuff up through the beginning of January, so I need to make something that goes with my Christmas decor but feels different. (Does that make any sense at all?)
Here is how I made our beautiful New Year’s Eve tablescape and how you can make one that’s similar.
Repurpose some Christmas decor
Do you have decorations that are gold or silver? Super! You are half way to New Year’s Eve chic. In my case, I grabbed some gold leafed stars that were hanging in windows in another room and hung them from my chandelier

I had some tiny gold leafed Christmas trees that I added to the center of the table.
I had some unused tinsel Christmas florals that I added to a vase.
I also used the gold stars as a center piece for each plate.

Hit up some after-Christmas clearance events
I used some clearance paper from the craft store to cut out paper stars. I made them into garlands by sewing up the center of each of them on my sewing machine!
I grabbed some charger plates for less than $1.00 per piece and that added to my glitzy tables cape.
Hit up the thrift store
For my mantle, I added clocks that I found at the thrift store along with a sign I made from a thrifted frame. (one of the clocks was originally covered in cow print fabric!)
You could also use wooden stars, star garlands, or a butcher paper sign saying the year!
I also picked up 5 goblets and pulled out my Cricut machine! I added some vinyl lettering and made the cutest goblets ever!
